Easy Outsource / Buyer guide

How to Choose an Outsourcing Partner: 5 Questions to Ask.

Use these questions to understand what a provider will do, what stays with you, and how you will work together after a hire starts.

Easy Outsource Practical guide

Choosing an outsourcing partner is about more than a low rate or a polished sales call. You are deciding who will help define the work, find people, handle the setup, and support the relationship. These five questions can help you compare providers before you commit.

1. What exactly will the provider handle?

Ask where the provider's responsibility starts and stops. Do they help clarify the role, source candidates, screen, coordinate interviews, support onboarding, and assist with payroll administration? Ask what remains yours to decide and manage.

2. How do they assess candidates?

Ask what candidates are screened for and how you will see the evidence. A strong process should connect the person's experience to the actual tasks, tools, communication needs, and schedule in your role. You should still meet and interview the candidates before you choose.

3. Who will support the working relationship?

Find out who handles questions after the hire starts. Ask how often they check in, how you raise a concern, and what happens if the role changes or the fit is not right. Clear ownership helps small issues get addressed early.

4. How are agreements, payroll, and local requirements handled?

Ask which party prepares the agreement, coordinates payment, and explains the working arrangement. Cross-border requirements depend on the locations and the type of relationship, so clarify who is responsible for confirming the right setup and where you may need independent advice.

5. How will you know the arrangement is working?

Agree on the role's responsibilities, working hours, communication rhythm, and what good performance looks like. Ask how the provider supports onboarding and handles missed expectations. The provider should help set up the relationship, but you still need to give direction and useful feedback.

A simple comparison checklist

Before choosing, write down the role scope, candidate screening steps, included services, responsibilities on each side, payment and agreement process, support contact, and how you will review progress.

Look for clear answers, not sweeping promises.

A good provider should be able to explain the process in plain language, tell you what is included, and be honest about what depends on your role and location. Compare proposals using the same job scope and ask for clarification wherever the responsibilities are vague.
